  • If you literally wish to wish like “Happy birthday my boy , have a wonderful day ahead.” Go for “Wir wünschen Ihnen einen wunderschönen Tag.”
  • Pronounce the hard phrase as veer vuhnshen ee-nen aye-nen vuhn-deher-shuhn-nen tahg.
  • Knowing the meaning: Wir means “we” ,the german verb Wünschen means to “wish” or to “desire”, Ihnen is an gentlemen’s way of saying you & wunderschönen means wonderful or beautiful.
  • And to your surprise “Tag”means day.
  •  Replace Ihnen with Dir, the informal version of “you will be formed of given statement. So informally it will be like “Wir wünschen dir einen wunderschönen Tag”.

  • want to Ask the question how is birthday boy ? Use “Wie geht’s dem Geburtstagkind” , it means same.
  • “wie geht’s ” , a German interjection which means “How are you doing.” Gerburtstagkind means birthday boy or borthday girl.
  • Dem means “the”.

3) Much love for your birthday.

  • “Alles Liebe zum Geburtstag” is the term you are looking for to wish birthday and along with it showing your affection and love.
  • Liebe means love , “Alles”means all , “Zum geburtstag” means for your birthday. Makes sense right ?

4) May all the love and happiness be filled on this special day in your life.

5) Shame , we were not there to celebrate with you.

  • Use” Schade, dass wir nicht mitfeiern können” if you were not able to make it up to party of someone special and you feel sorry for not being there,Pronounce the sentiment as shah-deh dahss veer neecht(“ch” as in “aCH” NOT as in “Chair” mitt-fy-ehrn keu-nenn.
  • “shame” or “pity” is for schade ,The word dass  means “that” and wir means “we” .
  • The term nicht means “not,” and können means “can.”
  • Mitfeiern means “celebrate together.”

6) Ask someone’s age.

  • “Wie alt bist du?” – How old are you ?
  • wie means how, alt means old & bist means are. Du is for “you”
  • More polite version of it would be “Wie alt sind Sie“
